Patricia, thank you for writing to us. I would suggest you look at J.P. Mallory's book In Search of the Indo-Europeans, Thames and Hudson, 1996 and also his book with D.Q. Adams Encyclopedia of Indo-European Culture Fitzroy-Dearborn, London and Chicago, 1997. This last one is expensive. We use the one in our library. It is reference only. Caesar's Gaulish War dismisses the Sequani in one sentence. We think they were taken in for a time by the Helveti, the neighbors in the Alps. We will be very, very interested in your research into the language of the Sequani. The language on the calendar has been identified by many scholars as Gaulish. But the calendar itself has very few whole words and many, many abbreviations. Thank you so much for finding us. Your English is good. Good luck with your research. Keep in touch.

Hello everyone, I am so happy to have found this site as I was doing some researche about the sequani tribe. why? because I am born in besancon (france) a major part of my family is in Dole and on my grand father side they are all in bourg en bress and often we use to visit Coligny and its abbaye on sunday's family walk. so you can imagine how related I can feel to everything I read. I actually only started to do some research about the Sequani tribe and right now I wonder if you could help me to found more documentation about they language. In any case I am already happy that I found you and I hope to have more contact with you in the furtur, (sorry if my english is not perfect but I am sur that you understand that it is my second language ;)..thx..read you soon I hope..

Dane Rudhyar in the Astrology of Personality Doubleday, 1970 says, "The realm of significance is the archetypal realm and no concrete manifestation is ever a perfect replica of its archetype. Likewise, no astronomical cycle can be calculated in whole numbers. . . . Somewhere, at sometime, some discrepancy will always occur. Otherwise the universe would already have reached a point of static perfection."

Nothing is socially done without a common concept of time. If I tell you that I will meet you at 4 o'clock today, we both have a concept of that time. The bigger the number of people with whom I wish to interact, the more specific needs to be my concept of time. Time is what keeps us in common. No society can exist without some joint concept of time.

Do you know that the Mayan's were the first culture to have a concept of zero? This is important to know when counting ancient calendars.

Have a look at the eclipse cycle under the technical pages in more info. It is fun to follow. Intuitively, the information presented seems to point to the Saros cycle. When we expanded the Sequani Calendar through nineteen years, we found 6939 nights total. This is ending in year 4 (19) and having year 5 and year 1 being the same at year 20. It is also of note that at the end of year 3 (18), the calendar counts the Saros cycle of 6586 nights. We also waant to thank all of you who have been encouraging us to and while we are looking at and studying the standstills of the Moon.
